Doge Palace

Once home of the Doge of Venice as well as seat of the government of Venice (including court and the famous prison) today the building is a museum. It was built in the 14th century.

Its front in venecian gothic style is turning the architectual rules upside down, because the solid part of the building is founded on lofty arcades.
