Probably you have seen this kind of photo in typical advertisings already: A cloddy bulky chef in the pantry, proudly presenting the treasures of his cuisine: Mere towers of mildly matured cheeses of all different kinds, dozens of salamis hanging from the ceiling...

Far away from exaggeration the delicacy of the romagnole cuisine comes very close to what gourmets from all over the world are constantly dreaming of. The kitchen of the Emilia Romagna is cuisine on steriods.

This is common sense even among the italians who do not only like the cuisine of this region, they praise it to the skies. And they are right:

Vox populi, vox dei - there are names which are to be appointed only by the peoples voice; like Venice, told to be the city of love; or Rome, told to be the "eternal city" (btw. the voice of the italien people does not call it like that, but "la puttana" - bitch; they will know why).

Well, peoples voice of Italy found a name for the principal of the Emilia Romagna as well: la grassa - the fat one. Actually we are not too sure if it derives from the idea that the foot is fat (not convinced), or if it makes you fat. According to our experriences we tend to assume the latter one.

In any case the visit of a good restaurant in this province definitely pays. Period. Don't miss it.

A delicious cuisine demands for an adaequate ambient. And so it is. The delta of the river Po is enchanting and impressing. The seaside, with long beaches of fine golden sand on the one hand, the wildlife sancuaries on the other hand. Some of them are more than thousand years old.
