1. General principles

meineAdria.com is designed as an informational website. We aim to collect as little personal data as possible.

In particular, we do not use user accounts, newsletters or general web analytics services such as Google Analytics. Personal data is processed only where necessary to operate the website, provide a function requested by you, respond to an enquiry or finance the website through advertising.

2. Accessing the website and server logs

The website is hosted by Mittwald. When you access a page, technically necessary connection data is processed. This may include:

  • IP address
  • date and time of access
  • requested page or file
  • amount of data transferred
  • HTTP status code
  • previously visited page
  • browser, operating system and device type

This data is required to deliver the website, detect errors and ensure system security. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in the secure and reliable operation of the website pursuant to Article 6(1)(f) GDPR.

According to Mittwald, IP addresses in access logs are anonymised and generally retained for up to 60 days. Error logs are generally deleted after seven days. Further information can be found in Mittwald’s privacy policy and its information about logging and data protection.

3. Contacting us

Contact by email

Direct email links are provided in various places on the website. Clicking such a link initially opens only your own email application. Data is not transmitted until you actually send the message.

We process the information you provide solely to handle your enquiry. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR where the enquiry concerns the initiation or performance of a contract. For other enquiries, the legal basis is our legitimate interest in responding to communications pursuant to Article 6(1)(f) GDPR.

Contact form

A contact form is available on the /kontakt page. In particular, the following information is processed:

  • name
  • email address
  • content of the message
  • confirmation that the privacy information has been acknowledged

The information is used to transmit and process your enquiry. Mandatory fields are required so that we can identify and respond to your enquiry.

The legal basis is the same as for enquiries sent by email: Article 6(1)(b) GDPR for contractual or pre-contractual enquiries and Article 6(1)(f) GDPR for general enquiries.

Enquiries are deleted once they have been fully processed, unless statutory retention obligations or legitimate reasons require further storage.

4. Cookies and local browser storage

We use cookies and similar storage technologies only where they are required for specific functions or where you have given your prior consent.

These include in particular:

  • storing your choices in Google’s consent panel
  • storing the selected map view for the current browser session
  • storing your decision to load weather information automatically on marina pages

Technically necessary storage is used on the basis of Section 165(3) of the Austrian Telecommunications Act 2021 and Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. For non-essential storage and access, we obtain consent pursuant to Article 6(1)(a) GDPR.

You can delete stored data at any time through your browser settings. You can also change your advertising choices using the “Privacy & cookie settings” link in the website footer. Information about Austrian cookie rules is available from the Austrian Data Protection Authority.

5. Google AdSense

Selected pages contain individual advertising spaces provided through Google AdSense. For users within the European Economic Area, the provider is generally:

Google Ireland Limited
Gordon House, Barrow Street
Dublin 4, Ireland

We do not use Google’s automatic ads. Advertisements are shown only in spaces provided and enabled by us on the respective page.

When you first visit a relevant page, a consent panel provided by Google is displayed. You can allow or reject personalised or non-personalised advertising and manage the participating providers individually. You can subsequently change your choices using “Privacy & cookie settings”.

If you give your consent, Google and the advertising partners listed in the consent panel may process information including:

  • IP address and approximate location
  • the page accessed and referrer
  • browser, device and operating system information
  • cookies and other online identifiers
  • consent status
  • interactions with advertisements

Where cookies, device identifiers or similar technologies are used for advertising, this processing is based on your consent pursuant to Article 6(1)(a) GDPR and Section 165(3) of the Austrian Telecommunications Act 2021.

If you do not give your consent, so-called limited ads may still be displayed. These advertisements are not selected on the basis of a personal advertising profile. Technical data may nevertheless be processed for delivery, frequency capping, billing and the detection of invalid traffic or attempted fraud.

Google may also process data in the United States and other countries outside the European Economic Area. Google refers to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses as safeguards for these transfers.

6. Expedia accommodation search

Selected pages offer an accommodation search provided by Expedia Group.

The Expedia widget is not loaded automatically. Initially, only a locally stored notice is displayed. A connection to Expedia Group’s servers is established and the external widget is loaded only after you select “Load accommodation search”.

Expedia may then receive information including your IP address, browser and device information, the page accessed, the referrer, and your entries and interactions within the accommodation search. Expedia may also use cookies or similar technologies.

The widget is loaded on the basis of your consent pursuant to Article 6(1)(a) GDPR and Section 165(3) of the Austrian Telecommunications Act 2021. meineAdria.com does not currently store this activation permanently. It applies only to the respective page view.

Further use of the search and any resulting booking take place directly with Expedia. Expedia processes the information entered there under its own responsibility. meineAdria.com participates in the Expedia Travel Creator Program and may receive a commission for a referred booking.

Further information can be found in the Expedia Group Privacy Statement and the Expedia Group Cookie Statement.

7. Maps provided by Mapbox and OpenStreetMap

The website uses maps to display places, routes and marinas.

Static map images are cached on our server. Merely displaying such a static image therefore does not establish a direct connection between your browser and Mapbox.

Interactive maps, however, obtain map tiles directly from:

  • Mapbox, Inc., United States
  • OpenStreetMap Foundation, United Kingdom

Some interactive maps are activated only after you select the map symbol. Overview and route maps may be loaded immediately when the relevant page is opened.

When map tiles are transferred, the providers receive technical information including your IP address, browser information, the time of access and the requested map tile. The selected map type is stored in your browser’s sessionStorage for the duration of the browser session.

The legal basis is our legitimate interest in providing a clear geographical presentation of our content pursuant to Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Where a map is activated only after an explicit action by you, the processing additionally takes place at your request or on the basis of your consent.

Mapbox may also process data in the United States and refers to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and Standard Contractual Clauses.

Further information:

8. Weather information provided by Meteomatics

Weather information provided by Meteomatics can be loaded on marina pages. The provider is:

Meteomatics AG
Unterstrasse 12
9000 St. Gallen
Switzerland

The weather information is not loaded automatically at first. A connection to Meteomatics is established only after you activate the weather display. Meteomatics then receives technical information including your IP address and browser, device and access information.

Your decision to load weather information automatically on future marina pages is stored in your browser’s local storage under the key maMarinaWeatherConsent. You can disable this setting using the weather display switch or by deleting your browser’s local storage.

The legal basis is your consent pursuant to Article 6(1)(a) GDPR and Section 165(3) of the Austrian Telecommunications Act 2021. Further information can be found in the Meteomatics Privacy Policy.

9. Sorting by distance

Certain overview pages can be sorted by distance from your current location at your request.

Your location is determined only after you select the relevant function and grant location permission in your browser. Without this permission, meineAdria.com does not receive your device’s location.

The coordinates are transmitted to our own server in order to sort the displayed content by distance. Your location is not transmitted to a map or analytics provider for this purpose.

For technical abuse and error detection, the coordinates are rounded to approximately one kilometre and logged together with a shortened IP address, the result of the request and the time of access. These log records are deleted after no more than 30 days.

The legal basis for using your location is your consent pursuant to Article 6(1)(a) GDPR. You can withdraw location permission at any time through your browser settings.

10. External links

The website contains links to external websites, email addresses and third-party services. A connection to the respective provider is generally established only after you select the link. From that point onwards, the respective provider is responsible for the processing of data on its service.

11. Recipients and transfers to third countries

Personal data is made available only to service providers that require it to operate the website or provide a function selected by you. These include hosting and email service providers as well as the providers named in this privacy policy.

Where service providers process data outside the European Economic Area, the transfer is based, depending on the provider, on an adequacy decision, the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.

12. Your rights

Subject to the applicable legal requirements, you have the right to:

  • obtain information about the personal data we process
  • have inaccurate data corrected
  • have your data deleted
  • restrict the processing of your data
  • receive your data in a portable format
  • object to processing based on legitimate interests
  • withdraw consent with effect for the future

Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the consent was withdrawn.

To exercise your rights, please contact us at info(at)meineAdria.com.

13. Right to lodge a complaint

You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. The competent authority in Austria is:

Austrian Data Protection Authority
Barichgasse 40–42
1030 Vienna
Austria

Website: www.dsb.gv.at

14. Automated decision-making

We do not make decisions based solely on automated processing within the meaning of Article 22 GDPR.

If you consent to personalised advertising, Google and participating advertising partners may use data to infer interests and select advertisements. Details and available choices are displayed in Google’s consent panel.

15. Changes to this privacy policy

We update this privacy policy if the website, the services used or the applicable legal requirements change. The version published on this page at the relevant time applies.
