Porto GaribaldiComacchioDogs are generally not allowed on Croatian beaches, but there are specially designated "wild beaches" (where no one complains...) and designated dog-friendly beaches where dogs are allowed in the water. In 2016, Croatia's first dog-friendly beach opened in Crikvenica, suggesting that more will follow.

You can recognize these beaches by a round sign with a colored border:
- Blue: Fine, dogs allowed - official dog beach.
- Green: Also fine - unregulated beach. Dogs aren't officially allowed here, but nobody cares as long as no one gets upset.
- Red: Dogs not allowed. If you see this sign (usually on regular beaches), you should look for somewhere else.
There is a certain stylistic variety among the signs, but for the most part, you can easily grasp the message.
