Porto Garibaldi

Along with the port of Goro, Porto Garibaldi is one of the most important fishing ports in the northern Adriatic. For that reason alone, recreational anglers will find plenty to enjoy here, as it's easy to take a boat trip for some fishing.

Porto Garibaldi has managed to preserve the charm of an old fishing village, much like Caorle, for example. Fishing and gastronomy define the local scene. Motorboats depart from here for excursions to the Po Delta or as far as Ferrara.
The canal harbor, with its numerous fishing boats, hosts the region's traditional annual events. It also offers excellent opportunities for organized boat tours.

For those interested in history, it is worth noting that Porto Garibaldi originally developed from a fishing village on the Magnavacca Canal (the name derives from a fortress built to protect the canal). Over time, the town - which was not yet called Porto Garibaldi at the time - developed into a port. This did not happen until April 1919, when the town council decided to rename the town in honor of the nation's founder. During World War II, the port facilities were completely destroyed.

Of all the dog-friendly beaches in Comacchio, Porto Garibaldi is the only one where dogs are allowed in the water!

Feast of Our Lady

One event worth mentioning is the Feast of Our Lady of the Sea, a solemn procession held in June featuring festively decorated boats. In mid-August, the town celebrates the Great Festival of Hospitality, where visitors can sample free DOC wine from Bosco Eliceo and enjoy delicious, freshly grilled sardines.
