The numerous forts, castles, bastions, and fortifications along the Adriatic Sea bear witness to turbulent times. How ironic that quite a few of them were never involved in any military conflicts (e.g., Palmanova during the Napoleonic Wars).
This may have been due to their deterrent effect or the universe's peculiar sense of humor - in any case, exciting discoveries along the Adriatic are guaranteed.
