A few miles off the coast of Ravenna (near Lido di Dante), divers are in for a treat. That's because the wreck of the Paguro oil rig lies on the seabed here. The Paguro was abandoned in 1965 following an explosion.
Even though it was a tragedy, in hindsight it had its silver lining. The area was designated a nature reserve because a reef formed around the drilling platform, which is a delight not only for fish but especially for divers.
