Venice Vaporetto

Anyone who has made it through the maze of the Venetian public transit system is definitely mentally prepared for being in Venice. Here’s an overview:

  • Alilaguna Orange
    Line: Marco Polo to various neighborhoods in central Venice, including Guglie, Rialto, and Santa Maria del Giglio.

    : Runs from Marco Polo to Murano, Lido, and various districts in central Venice, including F.te Nove, San Marco, and the train station (Santa Lucia).

Lines between Lido S.M.E. and San Marco

  • Line 1: P.le Roma – Ferrovia – Rialto – S. Marco – Lido S.M.E. – the classic Grand Canal line, slow but scenic for tourists.
  • Line 5.1: Circular route via Lido S.M.E. – Ospedale – F.te Nove – Ferrovia – P.le Roma – Zattere – S. Marco/S. Zaccaria – Lido S.M.E.
  • Line 5.2: Opposite direction of the loop line via Lido S.M.E. – S. Marco/S. Zaccaria – Zattere – P.le Roma – Ferrovia – F.te Nove – Ospedale – Lido S.M.E.
  • Line 10: Lido S.M.E. – Giardini – S. Marco Giardinetti – Zattere; a supplementary or time-dependent line.
  • Line 14: S. Marco/S. Zaccaria – Lido S.M.E. – Punta Sabbioni – Burano; important connection from Punta Sabbioni to the Lido.
  • Line N: Night line via S. Marco / Giudecca / Grand Canal – Lido S.M.E.

Lines from Lido S.M.E. / Santa Maria Elisabetta (station)

Punta Sabbioni → Venice / St. Mark's

  • Line 14: Punta Sabbioni – Lido S.M.E. – S. Marco/S. Zaccaria; important connection from the Cavallino area via the Lido to Venice.
  • Line 15: Punta Sabbioni – S. Marco/S. Zaccaria; direct connection to San Marco, without stopping at the Lido.

Punta Sabbioni → Lido di Venezia

  • Line 14: Punta Sabbioni – Lido S.M.E.; convenient connection to the central Santa Maria Elisabetta pier on the Lido.
  • Line 17: Punta Sabbioni – Lido S. Nicolò – Tronchetto; ferry service, particularly useful for cars, motorcycles, and bicycles.

Punta Sabbioni → Burano / Murano / Fondamente Nove

  • Line 12: Punta Sabbioni – Treporti – Burano – Torcello – Mazzorbo – Murano – Venice/Fondamente Nove; a good line for excursions to the northern lagoon.
  • Line 14: Some trips also connect Punta Sabbioni with Burano; always check the current schedule for trips to Burano.

Punta Sabbioni → Ospedale / Fondamente Nove / S. Giobbe

  • Line 22: Punta Sabbioni – Ospedale – Fondamente Nove – S. Giobbe; a rather specialized route, particularly useful for destinations in northern Venice.

Night services from Punta Sabbioni

Note
There is usually no direct vaporetto line to Rialto from Punta Sabbioni. If you want to go to Rialto, you usually take a vaporetto to S. Marco/S. Zaccaria first and then continue on foot or transfer to an inner-city vaporetto line.

Caorle → Venice / St. Mark's Square via Motonave Caorle

  • Motonave Caorle: private boat service from Caorle to Venice; not a regular ACTV route.
  • Monday through Friday: Departure from Caorle at 8:00 a.m., return trip from Venice at 3:30 p.m.
  • Travel time: approx. 2 hours 20 minutes each way.
  • The boat arrives in Venice near San Marco, at the Riva degli Schiavoni.
  • Particularly convenient for day trips from Caorle if you want to travel directly to Venice by boat without a car.

Prices

  • Children up to 2 years old: free.
  • Children and teenagers aged 2 to 14: €45.00.
  • Adults: €60.00.

Tickets and Information

  • Tickets can be pre-ordered or purchased directly on board.
  • An ATM is available on board.
  • The trip may be canceled in case of bad weather.
  • Since this is not a regular ACTV route, departure times and availability should be checked with the provider in advance.

Note: There is no regular ACTV vaporetto route from Caorle to Venice. The Motonave Caorle is a tourist boat service and is particularly suitable for a planned day trip.

San Marco / S. Zaccaria → Lido S.M.E.

  • Line 1: S. Marco – Lido S.M.E.; classic vaporetto route between the historic center and the Lido. Beautiful, but rather slow.
  • Line 5.1: S. Marco/S. Zaccaria – Lido S.M.E.; circular route, convenient for traveling from the center to the Lido.
  • Line 5.2: S. Marco/S. Zaccaria – Lido S.M.E.; opposite direction of the circular route, often a good option for the return trip or depending on the direction of travel.
  • Line 10: S. Marco Giardinetti – Giardini – Lido S.M.E.; supplementary or time-dependent connection between San Marco and the Lido.
  • Line 14: S. Marco/S. Zaccaria – Lido S.M.E.; connection continuing toward Punta Sabbioni/Burano, but also usable for San Marco → Lido.

Alternative within Venice: Zattere / Giardini / S. Elena → Lido S.M.E.

  • Line 6: Zattere – Giardini Biennale – S. Elena – Lido S.M.E.; fast and convenient connection to the Lido, but not directly from San Marco.

San Marco → Lido Casinò

  • Line 20: S. Marco/S. Zaccaria – S. Servolo – S. Lazzaro – Lido Casinò; useful for destinations in the southern part of the Lido, such as the area around the Film Festival, the Casino, and the Palazzo del Cinema.

Note: The central pier on the Lido is called Lido S.M.E. / Santa Maria Elisabetta. From there, you can continue by bus, bike, or on foot toward the beach, hotels, and the Film Festival area.

Take Line 1 along the Grand Canal

  • Line 1: P.le Roma – Ferrovia – Rialto – Accademia – S. Marco – Lido S.M.E.; the classic slow vaporetto line through the Grand Canal. Ideal for sightseeing: The line travels right down the middle of the Grand Canal and passes many of Venice’s most famous palaces, bridges, and landing stages. Currently the most affordable scenic cruise.

Outer lines around the historic center with connections to Murano

  • Line 4.1: One-way loop around Venice, with stops including S. Zaccaria, Giardini, S. Elena, Fondamente Nove, Ferrovia, P.le Roma, Giudecca, and Murano.
  • Line 4.2: Opposite direction of Line 4.1; also circles the historic center and connects to Murano. Especially convenient for trips where you don’t need to go through the Grand Canal but prefer to travel around the outside of Venice. Good connection to Murano, Fondamente Nove, Santa Lucia Station, Piazzale Roma, Giudecca, S. Zaccaria, and the Giardini/Biennale area.

Venice → Murano / Burano / Torcello

Fondamente Nove → Murano / Mazzorbo / Torcello / Burano

  • Line 12: Venice/Fondamente Nove – Murano Faro – Mazzorbo – Torcello – Burano – Treporti – Punta Sabbioni; the main ACTV line serving the northern lagoon islands. Ideal for visitors who want to reach Murano, Burano, and Torcello by public transportation.
  • Convenient: Board at Fondamente Nove, as the line travels directly from there to Murano, Burano, and Torcello.

San Marco / S. Zaccaria → Burano

  • Line 14: S. Marco/S. Zaccaria – Lido S.M.E. – Punta Sabbioni – Burano; convenient connection from San Marco if your destination is Burano.
  • For Torcello, Line 14 is only useful as an indirect route: first to Burano, then continue or transfer toward Torcello.

Note: For Torcello, Line 12 is the most important connection. On some trips, Torcello is served only upon request; therefore, check the current ACTV schedule before your trip.
