Just like everywhere else in the lagoon (including Caorle), Bibione is home to the so-called casoni: thatched huts where fishermen used to spend the night while they waited to catch the lagoon's delicious fish.
Today, they're used less for work and more for pure enjoyment! On weekends, Italians (who are lucky enough to own a casone) head out into the lagoon with their friends, grill freshly caught fish, and enjoy the day surrounded by beautiful nature.

The casoni are mostly privately owned and, of course, are only open to visitors if you know the local owner. So if you're lucky enough to be invited there: Go for it!

The best way to reach a casone is by boat, as not all casoni are accessible by car. Such an excursion, during which you can feel the refreshing Adriatic breeze on your face, usually includes a light meal (authentic local seafood specialties).
